The 2015 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy is more brooding than the Champs Saint Etienne, wafting from the glass with suggestions of black cherry, wood smoke, licorice and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, with impressive depth and concentration, juicy acids, and the structure for sustained evolution in bottle. It was with this lieu-dit that the Roty family’s association with Marsannay began, as Joseph Roty was hired to work the vineyards here by Monsieur Dupont-Tisserandot, who rewarded him for his labors with a plot of vines.
