Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate – 92 points
The estate’s flagship wine, the 2008 Sagrantino di Montefalco Sacrantino sees 18 months of barrique and loads of spice that comes from the oak as well as the varietal characteristics. This is a thickly layered and deeply extracted wine with the kind of immediate intensity and power that can only stand up to aged cheese or stewed meat dishes. Those who appreciate Sagrantino will love this wine because in addition to the obvious muscle and heft, it shows harmony and finesses. Those firm tannins leave room for the other exciting elements that this wine has to offer. It is a far way off from its optimal drinking window. Drink: 2015-2025.
